Designed to present a critical analysis of the memorial landscapes composed on facebook sites to commemorate female martyrs of justice in the Sicilian antimafia movement, this exploratory study examines the case of magistrate and antimafia activist, Francesca Morvillo. WebFemale martyrs appear in Jewish Hellenistic and rabbinic texts, chronicles of the medieval Crusades and seventeenth-century Chmielnicki pogroms, and Shoah-related documents. Such narratives reflect actual horrific events, but many researchers consider martyrological representations to be more mythic and emblematic than historical.
